Ten Fridays of Fun in Metropolitan Square!

Every Summer starting in June, Friday evenings in Des Plaines feature a special line-up of performances at Metropolitan Square. The entertainment goes from 6:00 P.M. to 9:30 P.M., weather permitting. “Friday Nights Live!” offers family-friendly entertainment, games for the kids, and an opportunity for friends and family to come together.

June 21, Des Plaines Public Library’s Battle of the Bands. Come and root for your favorite teen band.   

June 28, Heights Brass Quintet Not your traditional brass quintet, they have an adventurous repertoire from Bach to Bowie.
Opening act will be Wayne Landino and his band. 

July 5, Chicago Blues and Rock guitarist Nick Bell and his power trio.  

July 12, Chez Butter will play classic and contemporary Motown, soul, R&B, and funk hits. 
Opening act will be local favorite, Steve Zane and Move the Beat Dance School will be on site with dance lessons. 

July 19, The Noize high energy presentation includes Classic Rock, Modern Rock, Pop, Country, and Motown hits.
Opening act will be an educational program by JG Reptile Show and we’ll be hosting a food demonstration by Chefs from Rivers Casino with produce provided by the Jen School. 

July 26, Fox Crossing String Band all-female bluegrass group. 
Opening act will be Jeff Trudell.

August 2,  Valdes Trio music ranging from sizzling Latin music to cool jazz, contemporary dance music to Caribbean calypso, and piano jazz to classical sounds.  
Move the Beat Dance School will be there to show you some Latin dance moves.

August 9 Six on Friday is a Chicago area cover band will rock our Back to School Night!
Look for special contributions from the Des Plaines Youth Commission and Maine West High School.

August 16 Shindig! A Tribute to the '60s. Covering over 90 different bands from that time are all part of the show!
Opening act will be a solo performance by Wayne Landino and Move the Beat Dance School will be on site with dance lessons. 

August 23 The Wayouts focus on 1960s garage rock, creating a list made up of songs that everybody knows but aren't worn out by your average classic rock and oldies acts. 
Opening act will Jeff Trudell and we’ll be hosting a food demonstration by Chefs from Rivers Casino with produce provided by the Jen School.
