Phased construction is nearly complete at the Algonquin intersection. The last piece of pavement at the intersection has been placed. The intersection will be completely open to traffic next week, once the pavement cures and gains strength.
Placement of new pavement at the Oakton Street intersection is continuing. The contractor is scheduled to shift traffic Tuesday (8/16/16) to begin the final stage of pavement construction at this intersection.
The contractor is continuing to place concrete for sidewalk on the west side of River Road. This work was delayed but is scheduled to be complete by the end of next week (8/19/16).
Asphalt work began this week for driveways on the west side of River Road. The majority of asphalt driveways are complete. Additional asphalt work will continue in approximately 1-2 weeks after the completion of the remaining concrete work. The placement of asphalt for driveways is a moving operation, usually restricting driveway access for approximately 30 minutes. Once the asphalt is placed, compacted and let to cool for about 10 minutes residents can drive on the new asphalt driveway.
Excavation and grading, in preparation for west side landscape restoration (topsoil & sod), began this week. Topsoil is scheduled to be placed next week depending on weather. Sod will not be placed until after 9/1 and when temperatures are consistently below 80 degrees.
Traffic signal work continues at the Oakton and Algonquin intersections. Street lighting work at the Oakton intersection is also continuing.
Permanent pavement markings are being placed throughout the project. Pavement Markings are also being refreshed south of the project.
All work may be delayed due to weather or unforeseen circumstances. Your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated.
Construction signage and flaggers will continue to be used throughout the project. Expect delays while traveling through the project area and use an alternate route if possible.
