Other Guidelines
  • New residents and newly purchased vehicle owners have 45 days to buy and display stickers.

  • Senior Citizen rate applies to any licensee 65 years of age and older during current license year. Valid state driver's license and current state vehicle registration certificate are required for each vehicle provided this is the first year a senior rate is requested.   

  • Disability rate applies to any licensee receiving a disability pension through social security. Valid state driver’s license, current state vehicle registration certificate and a social security awards letter are required.

  • Non-Profit rate applies to any tax exempt organizations chartered by the State of Illinois. Current state vehicle license registration and tax exempt certifications are required.

  • Transfer/Replacement licenses may be obtained by presenting a valid license or scrapings of a valid vehicle sticker. Transfer to vehicle of the same class is a $5 fee. Transfer between classes in a $5 fee plus the difference between classes. 

  • Vehicle licenses are valid from July 1 to June 30. Windshield stickers must be displayed on the lower left hand corner of the front windshield. Motorcycle tags must be securely attached to the vehicle’s rear license plate.
