    Raise public awareness of the anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution and encourage study and understanding of this document that is the basis of our government.

  2. Knight of Columbus - Intellectual Disabilities Drive

    September 19, 7:00 AM - September 21, 7:00 PM @ Outside selected retail stores and at major intersections of Des Plaines.

    The Knights of Columbus need your help. Each year we take to the streets to raise money for the intellectually disabled. Be a part of making a difference in their lives.

  3. Des Plaines River Trail Bike Ride

    September 20, 9:00 AM @ The Historic Methodist Campground

    The popular and growing 9-mile Des Plaines River Trail Bike Ride is scheduled for Sept. 20th with riders of all ages welcome. Starting and ending at the Historic Methodist Campground located at 1250 Joseph Schwabb (Campground) Road, Des Plaines, IL. Participation is Free. 9AM Registration, 10AM Start with food, entertainment & raffles following the ride. Registration and bike ride maps available at www.dpbpac.org. All riders must be registered, sign a waiver and wear a helmet to participate. Lutheran General Hospital Trauma staff will be on hand with bike helmets for sale at $11.00 each. The ride is organized by the Des Plaines Bike and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (DPBPAC), and sponsored by Deep Green in cooperation with the Special Events Commission.

  4. Des Plaines Friends of the Park - Golf in the Dark at Lake Park

    The Inaugural Golf in the Dark at Lake Park event to benefit the Des Plaines Park District Youth Scholarship Fund. Come out and play some glow-in-the-dark golf to help the kids of Des Plaines!! Golf, Dinner and two drinks included with your ticket. $50 per individual or $175 per foursome.

  7. HHS - Fall Prevention Awareness Expo

    September 23, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Frisbie Senior Center

    HHS has partnered with Frisbie Senior Center and Northwest Community Hospital to hold a Fall Prevention Awareness event to raise awareness on the risk factors of falling for older residents and what measures can be taken to prevent and reduce falls. All community seniors, as well as their family members, are welcomed to the free event where they can learn about fall prevention. Falls, and fear of falling, greatly impacts the health and independence of our senior residents. Senior falls are preventable. Please join the City of Des Plaines, Health and Human Services, along with the Frisbie Senior Center and Northwest Community Hospital, for a free, Fall Prevention Awareness Expo. We want to keep our seniors healthy, safe, and standing. Join us from 1-3pm on Tuesday, September 23rd, 2014 at the Frisbie Senior Center. 52 E Northwest Hwy.

  8. HHS - Women's Health Fair

    September 24, 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM @ Prairie Lakes Community Center

    Health and Human Services, along with the Park District, is sponsoring the annual Women's Health Fair. We will have a variety of vendors that will provide valuable health information to the women in our community. Our goal is to educate and empower women in our community. Please join the City of Des Plaines, Health and Human Services and the Park District for our annual Women's Health Fair. The event will be held at Prairie Lakes Community Center, 515 E. Thacker, from 3pm-7pm and is free to the public. We will have a variety of local organizations delivering relevant health information, tips, and screenings.

    Are you ready for a little friendly competition between communities? The 50+ Sports Challenge is a sporting event for men and women age 50 and better. Join team Niles and compete against other towns in events including swimming, run/walk, indoor cycling, table tennis, Wii bowling, billiards and bag toss.
