    DPCF serves the disabled, elderly and youth of Des Plaines. We fund four programs that improve the quality of life of our residents: Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Healthy Community/Healthy Youth, Intergenerational and Seasons of Service. Support the Des Plaines Community Foundation 11th Annual Fundraiser at the Rivers Casino on Friday, September 5.     The Knights of Columbus need your help. Each year we take to the streets to raise money for the intellectually disabled. Be a part of making a difference in their lives.

  4. Des Plaines Friends of the Park - Golf in the Dark at Lake Park

    The Inaugural Golf in the Dark at Lake Park event to benefit the Des Plaines Park District Youth Scholarship Fund. Come out and play some glow-in-the-dark golf to help the kids of Des Plaines!! Golf, Dinner and two drinks included with your ticket. $50 per individual or $175 per foursome.

  5. HHS - Fall Prevention Awareness Expo

    September 23, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Frisbie Senior Center

    HHS has partnered with Frisbie Senior Center and Northwest Community Hospital to hold a Fall Prevention Awareness event to raise awareness on the risk factors of falling for older residents and what measures can be taken to prevent and reduce falls. All community seniors, as well as their family members, are welcomed to the free event where they can learn about fall prevention. Falls, and fear of falling, greatly impacts the health and independence of our senior residents. Senior falls are preventable. Please join the City of Des Plaines, Health and Human Services, along with the Frisbie Senior Center and Northwest Community Hospital, for a free, Fall Prevention Awareness Expo. We want to keep our seniors healthy, safe, and standing. Join us from 1-3pm on Tuesday, September 23rd, 2014 at the Frisbie Senior Center. 52 E Northwest Hwy.

  6. HHS - Women's Health Fair

    September 24, 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM @ Prairie Lakes Community Center

    Health and Human Services, along with the Park District, is sponsoring the annual Women's Health Fair. We will have a variety of vendors that will provide valuable health information to the women in our community. Our goal is to educate and empower women in our community. Please join the City of Des Plaines, Health and Human Services and the Park District for our annual Women's Health Fair. The event will be held at Prairie Lakes Community Center, 515 E. Thacker, from 3pm-7pm and is free to the public. We will have a variety of local organizations delivering relevant health information, tips, and screenings.

  7. Kiwanis Club of Des Plaines - Peanut Day

    Kiwanis Peanut Day! Fri. Sept. 26 & Sat. Sept. 27. All money raised will be used to help other Des Plaines organizations and residents.

  8. 50+ Sports Challenge

    September 27, 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM @ Niles Senior Center

    Are you ready for a little friendly competition between communities? The 50+ Sports Challenge is a sporting event for men and women age 50 and better. Join team Niles and compete against other towns in events including swimming, run/walk, indoor cycling, table tennis, Wii bowling, billiards and bag toss.   9. Maine Township - Community Garage Sale
