Recycling
Des Plaines residents may purchase additional
recycling bins at the City Hall Cashier’s Office for $6.00.
Please call 847-391-5330 for more information.
Accepted Recyclables
The following items are collected in recycling
bins, or paper bags that are next to recycling bins. Only
these items are collected:
| Metals |
Aluminum cans, clean foil,
tin/steel/bi metal cans, and empty steel aerosol cans. |
| Glass |
Clear and colored glass containers.
NO windowpane glass. |
| Plastic |
#1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, #7
containers. NO plastic bags. NO packing peanuts
(take to Mail Boxes Etc.) |
| Paper |
Milk/juice cartons, drink boxes,
newspaper, junk mail, telephone books, chip board.
Corrugated cardboard must be cut into 2’ x 2’ pieces and tied or
in paper bags. |
Residents who would like to receive money for their recyclables
(aluminum cans, brass, and copper ONLY) can recycle their items at:
Wright Recycling
(Located at KMART parking lot at Oakton & Lee/Mannheim)
1155 W. Oakton Street
Accepts: aluminum, brass, copper and stainless
steel.
Hours: Tues-Sat, 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
