Citizens On Patrol (C.O.P.)
are resident volunteers who assist the Des Plaines Police Department
by patrolling the streets of Des Plaines. The volunteers patrol by
vehicle and bicycle and report suspicious activity to the 911
Communications Center. The volunteers take non-emergency radio calls
allowing sworn officers to respond to calls of a more serious
nature. All volunteers are graduates of the Des Plaines Police
Department Citizens Police Academy, and are required to take and
pass additional training.
