Seat Belts
The number one killer of Americans between the ages of 4 and 34
is motor vehicle crashes. In Illinois alone, there are
approximately 425,000 crashes each year, resulting in thousands of
injuries and deaths. You can help reduce this number by making
the simple choice to wear a seatbelt.
The State of Illinois has several laws mandating the use of seat
safety belts while in a vehicle. These laws protect both
adults and children. Illinois Vehicle Code 625 ILCS
5/12-603.1, states the driver and front seat passenger in any
vehicle must wear a seatbelt or be subject to possible fines and
penalties.
