Crime Prevention & Other Programs

The Crime Prevention office serves as the clearinghouse for many programs that are available to our citizens. The Crime Prevention office serves as the clearinghouse for many programs that are available to our citizens.  The Des Plaines Crime Prevention Officers are members of the Illinois Crime Prevention Association (ICPA).  ICPA members meet on a regular basis to exchange program information and ideas, as well as to receive training in Crime Prevention techniques.  This networking ensures that the residents of Des Plaines are exposed to the latest crime prevention information.

We encourage you to take advantage of the programs that we offer.  We feel that by practicing good Crime Prevention habits, citizens can reduce their chances of becoming victims of crime whether they are at home, work, or traveling.  Most of our programs teach Crime Prevention or personal safety techniques and reinforce the benefit of their use.  You can call the Crime Prevention Unit at 847-391-5367.
