Home delivered meals are a service of the City of
Des Plaines Human Services Division in cooperation with Oakton
Pavilion. The service is designed to provide a hot meal at
noon for those persons who are unable to adequately prepare their
own meals.
How Does it Work?
After an in-home assessment, clients are placed on
Meals on Wheels for a maximum of two months at which time a
reassessment is conducted to determine the need for further service.
Clients are billed monthly. Meals are prepared by the Food
Service Department of Oakton Pavilion and are delivered Monday
through Friday (excluding Holidays) by volunteer drivers.
Meals are delivered between 11:30 am and 1:00 pm.
Eligibility
The service is designed to serve older and disabled
homebound persons residing within the corporate limits of Des
Plaines. The
Human Services
Coordinator will determine an individual’s eligibility at the time
of their in-home interview.
Cost
The cost of each noon meal is $3.00. Clients
are billed monthly.
