Miscellaneous Residential and Commercial Structures
Heating/Air Conditioning
- Completed MECHANICAL permit application. Permit required for
new or replacement.
- Electrician license needed if new.
Fences
- Two plats of survey indicating location and height of fence.
- Completed FENCE permit application.
- 6’ maximum high in side and rear yards.
- Fences in front yards shall not exceed 4’ high and shall be
50% open. Front yard fences shall also be uniform in height,
material, type and design.
- Enclosed fenced area shall be provided with a gate.
- Fence posts shall be on owners side of fence.
- Fences shall not exceed 8’ in height in commercial and
industrial areas.
- Barbed wire fences are not permitted.
 Satellite
- Permit is required for satellite dishes over 36" in diameter.
- Two plats of survey showing exact location of satellite.
- Completed BUILDING permit application.
- Structural calculations indicating support.
- Shall be installed in rear yard only.
Roof
- Completed BUILDING permit application.
- Maximum of 2 layers of shingles allowed.
- State of Illinois Roofing license required.
Siding
- Completed BUILDING permit application.
- Permit also required for fascia & soffit work.
Electric
- Submit completed ELECTRIC permit application detailing nature
of work to be done.
Tank
Installation/Removal
- Completed BUILDING permit application.
- Three sets of plans and specifications.
- State Fire Marshall’s permit.
Elevator
- Completed BUILDING permit application.
- Three sets of plans and specifications.
 Underground
Lawn Sprinkler
- Completed PLUMBING permit application.
- Two plats indicating proposed head locations.
- If there are heads in ROW, City Council must approve. Submit
$220 along with signed License Agreement, request for license
agreement, ROW ;permission form.
- Licensed plumber must perform work.
Window Replacement
- Complete BUILDING permit application.
- No permit required for replacement with no framing opening
changes.
- Provide header details on framing plan.
Plumbing/Sewer
1. Completed PLUMBING permit application indicating work to be
done.
