Architectural Review Commission

Required Appearance: New Residential Construction
Street-visible Residential Additions
New Commercial Construction
Appearance Changing Commercial Alterations

As a part of the permit review process, an appearance before the Architectural Review Commission is necessary. The Commission meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at City Hall in Room 102 at 7:00 pm.

To be placed on the agenda, plans must be submitted seven days prior to the next scheduled meeting. The Plan Examiner will then bring the full working drawings and elevations to the meeting.

Applicants for all residential projects shall bring photographs of the subject property, as well as photographs of the properties to either side and across the street, to the meeting.

Fill out the Architectural Review Data sheet and bring it to the meeting.

ALL APPLICANTS SHALL BRING SAMPLES of proposed materials and color selections to the meeting. (i.e., siding, roofing, brick, etc.)

The owner, contractor, architect or agent should attend the meeting. If a representative fails to appear with photographs and sample materials, the project will NOT be reviewed.

All new commercial and industrial projects require complete landscape plans, as well as (6) sets of 8½" X 11" or 11" X 17" elevation drawings, at the time of submittal.

Projects in the City’s designated Business Districts will be required to meet specific design guidelines.

Applications will be reviewed for design, materials, color, similarity to adjacent structures and landscaping.

The Commission will review projects in the order in which they are submitted for permit. Preliminary (Planning) reviews will follow immediately thereafter.

If you wish to delay your appearance or cannot attend, we would appreciate notification by noon on the day of the meeting to 847-391-5372.
