Liens

The City Attorney’s office prepares and files all liens against property located in the Des Plaines City Limits for money due the City.  The Office also prepares all Releases and Waiver of Liens placed by the city.  When selling a home that has a lien, once the lien is paid, the City Attorney’s Office will prepare a Release and Waiver of Lien.  This removes the lien and allows for clear title so that the sale can go through. It is however, the homeowner’s responsibility to file the Release and Waiver of Lien with the Cook County Recorder’s Office to show proof that the lien has been satisfied.
