Electronic Bulletin Board Policy

City of Des Plaines departments and agencies may publicize their events and activities free of charge via character-generated screens produced by Cable Services.

Outside organizations may also publicize their events and activities free of charge via character-generated screens produced by Cable Services provided the following criteria are met.

1. The organization must be based in Des Plaines or be publicizing an event to take place within the City of Des Plaines.

2. The organization must be a non-profit organization established under the laws of the United States and may have to submit a copy of proof of its certification as a non-profit when submitting a request for a screen to be developed for air.

3. Applicants may not air advertising material designed to promote the sale of commercial products and services, including advertising by or for a public office candidate or a lottery.

All requests for character-generated screens must adhere to the following:

1. Information must be submitted to the Cable Production Coordinator a minimum of 5 business days prior to the start date of the information.

2. Information may be submitted via an official City of Des Plaines CG request form or at the discretion of the organization.

3. Information may run for no more than four (4) continuous weeks.

Information submitted by outside applicants (non-City of Des Plaines) will be developed as time allows by the Cable Services staff.  Receipt or approval of outside information does not guarantee that the information will be cablecast, although a concerned effort will be made to ensure the timely airing of the information submitted.

The City of Des Plaines reserves the right to make any changes to the above rules as warranted without notice.
