2009 Press Release: Self Help Closet Receives Special Donation In Memory of DP Resident Nancy Nazarowski

For immediate release
November 24, 2009

Before Des Plaines resident Nancy Nazarowski passed away from heart complications on November 5, 2009 she told her husband that she had a request- instead of flowers at her funeral service, she wanted donations for those in need to be contributed to the Des Plaines Self Help Closet and Food Pantry, 600 E. Algonquin Road. On November 23, 2009 Nancy’s husband Anthony, family members, friends, Des Plaines Mayor Martin J. Moylan, 8th Ward Alderman Rosemary Argus, who helped coordinate the family’s efforts, and Self Help Closet staff unloaded bags and bags of food and clothing given in memory of Nancy Nazarowski. Family members have decided that every year they will conduct a Self Help Closet food and clothing drive in honor of their loved one. According to Anthony Nazarowski, his wife was always looking to help the less fortunate through the Self Help Closet and the City’s Mitten Tree Program.
