2009 Press Release: Maine West High School Clinical Government Program Underway

For immediate release
June 25, 2009

The Maine West High School Clinical Government Program is underway at Des Plaines City Hall. The Program allows students to fulfill a ½ credit government course requirement while attending a daily two hour classroom session, followed by two hours of Department orientation and/or work. The three week course is taught by Maine West Social Science Instructor Owen Doak. This year’s program involves 22 high school students. During the course of the three weeks many Department Heads and City Officials address the students. The students are also required to attend a City Council Meeting. A Press Conference, televised live on cable channel 17 at 9:00 am, Wednesday, July 1, 2009, allows the Clinical Government students an opportunity to ask questions of the City’s staff based on their experiences during the three week program.
