
2009 Press Release: Des Plaines Fire Chief Jaeger Announces
Retirement

Des Plaines Fire Chief Randy Jaeger has
announced that he will retire from City service on June 30, 2009.
Having been appointed to the position of Chief on September 6, 2007,
Jaeger began his career in the fire service when he was hired by the
Bensenville, Illinois Fire Department in April, 1979. Jaeger worked
for Bensenville until March, 1983 when he was hired by the Des
Plaines Fire Department.
In 1990 Jaeger was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and in 1993
to the rank of Captain assigned as the Des Plaines Fire Department’s
Training Officer. In 1999 he was promoted to Battalion Chief and
assigned as a Shift Commander. Chief Jaeger was promoted to Deputy
Chief in 2003 and occupied that position until his appointment as
Fire Chief in 2007.
"I am very grateful to the City of Des Plaines for the privilege
and honor to serve on the Des Plaines Fire Department and the
opportunity to be Fire Chief," Jaeger said.
