2008 Press Release: Mayor Declares Elks Youth Week
For immediate release
April 29, 2008
 Des Plaines Mayor Tony Arredia recently met
with members of the Des Plaines Elks Club to sign a proclamation
declaring May 5-10, 2008 as Elks Youth Week in Des Plaines. The
Elk’s Club is a not-for-profit benevolent organization that provides
support to youth throughout the year through scholarships, a
children’s health care program providing health screenings, a
dictionary program, a fishing program which includes free
instruction and equipment, and soccer and hoop shoots, to mention a
few. The organization also lends support to the local Self Help
Closet and Food Pantry (pictured above left to right) Elk’s Trustee
George De La Mar, Des Plaines Mayor Tony Arredia, Esteemed Loyal
Knight and Past Exalted Ruler Lee Burr, Jr., and Elk’s Trustee
Richard Lange pose for a photograph in the Mayor’s Office as the
proclamation is presented.
