2007 Press Release: Firemen Observe Breast Cancer Awareness

In keeping with Des Plaines Mayor
Tony Arredia’s request that City Employees wear pink in recognition
of Breast Cancer Awareness Day, October 17, 2007, members of the Des
Plaines Fire Department displayed pink t-shirts. (pictured above
left to right) Firefighter Paramedic Mike Kirchhoff, Firefighter
Paramedic Mike Mueller, Firefighter Engineer Jim Kedroski,
Firefighter Paramedic Gary Despaltro, Firefighter Paramedic Tim
Lynch, Fire Lieutenant Bob Ward, Firefigher Paramedic James Utinans,
Battalion Commander Tom Barrett, Firefighter Paramedic Brian Kinnare,
Firefighter Paramedic Mike King, Firefighter Engineer Ken Gaborek,
and Acting Fire Chief Art Zern pose for a photograph in front of an
engine wearing pink t-shirts. Des Plaines Community Health Nurse
Madeline May reminds the public that the American Cancer Society
suggests that women over the age of 40 should have a yearly
mammogram (x-ray of the breasts). To find a free or low cost
mammogram, call the American Cancer Society at 1-800-ACS-2345.
