
The Des Plaines History Center was one of the places to be this past
weekend. The Kinder House (pictured above) was open for tours and the
traditional "pies on the porch" were sold at the History Center, 789
Pearson Street. In addition, several kids' activities, like the
inflatable slide and bounce house seen above, were featured.

Special Events Chairman Linda Forman and Tony Arredia at the Taste. It
was Mayor Arredia who developed the concept of the Taste of Des Plaines
when he took office. He put the Special Events Commission in charge and
Linda Forman has been chairing it ever since. The Taste attracted 20,
000 this year, despite a few thunderstorms. |

Artist Thelma Spain is a loyal patron of the Des Plaines Art Guild. She
has been displaying her work at the Art Guild's Art Fair as part of the
Taste since the two merged eight years ago. |

The Rochau family was one of many that enjoyed this year's Taste of Des
Plaines. |

Des Plaines Park District offers free crafts for kids.

The Lattof YMCA Climbing Wall, a yearly tradition at the Taste. |
 

Des Plaines Police provide security at the Taste. |
 The
Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce and Industry sponsors the Home, Health
and Consumer Exp each year as part of the Taste of Des Plaines.
Many local businesses sponsor booths within the Expo tent. |

This year Holy Family Medical Center helped kick off the Des Plaines
Pounds Down Program, a City-wide program focusing on wellness. 86
individuals signed up for the program which promotes fitness and a
healthy lifestyle as a way of life. |
