New Year's Eve
Fundraiser
 "A good time was had by all" who attended
the Celebrate the New Year 2010 Party! sponsored by Honor
Flight Chicago and Cheeseburger in Paradise, located in Metropolitan
Square, downtown Des Plaines. The New Year’s Eve event was a
fundraiser for Honor Flight Chicago, a not-for-profit organization
that arranges and finances flights to Washington D.C. for World War
II veterans. Honor Flight’s mission is to "honor and thank those
veterans - especially World War II veterans by bringing them to
Washington DC, at no cost to them, for a day of honor." Last year 10
flights, with approximately 80 veterans per flight, went to
Washington D.C. for a day tour. Honor Flight Chicago recently opened
headquarters at 770 Lee Street, Suite 103, Des Plaines, Illinois.
The Des Plaines Honor Flight office will be manned by Steve
Schaefer, Commander VFW, and Suzanne Stanits, one of the founders of
Honor Flight Chicago. For additional information on Honor Flight and
