Special Events: Loyalty Day

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2992 in Des Plaines announces its� annual Loyalty Day program in downtown Des Plaines at Library Plaza, 1515 Ellenwood, on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at 1:00 pm.

Events taking place will be:

Announcing Des Plaines VFW�s 75th Diamond Anniversary
Flag Disposal program that the public is invited to participate in; bring old and tattered flags to be disposed of properly
Flag folding demonstration
Great American Awards presentation; North School Elementary 5th Graders who have successfully completed all aspects of the Great American Program, as well as the teachers who helped with this program, sponsored by the Des Plaines VFW. The Great American program consists of 17 different areas of facts about our country that they learn and take tests on; such as memorizing states and capitals, the presidents, facts about the Statue of Liberty, facts about our government, the flag and other areas.
An Honor Flight Chicago presentation

On hand will be local dignitaries of state and local government

Light refreshments will be served following the program
