Des Plaines 6th Alderman Mark Walsten, who heads up the City’s  Deep Green Committee has announced that the movie Hoot, originally part of a movie series scheduled to be hosted this weekend at the Des Plaines Theater as part of  Deep Green Committee’s fundraising efforts,  has been postponed until Friday and Saturday, May 15 and 16, 2009.   Hoot will be aired at 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm at the Des Plaines Theater.  The movie plot concerns a young man who moves from Montana to Florida with his family where he's compelled to engage in a fight to protect a population of endangered owls.  Tickets to the movie are $5 per person and are available at the door of the Theater on the evenings of the showings. The movie was postponed due to the flu scare.

According to Alderman Mark Walsten, who, along with Mary Rohde and Tim Hardt, comprise the Deep Green Committee, the group decided to launch the film series as an effort to increase activity downtown Des Plaines and create awareness as to the functions of the Deep Green Committee. The Committee is dedicated to helping maintain and improve the overall environment.
