 With the
growing interest in recycling, reuse, and disciplined family
spending, many households are likely looking for affordable
opportunities such as the Des Plaines 5th Annual Community Garage
Sale. This year’s sales will be held the first and third weekend of
May, May 1-3 and May 15-17, 2009.
Households in zip code 60018 may host garage sales from Friday,
May 1, 2009- Sunday, May 3, 2009, while those in 60016 may host
their sales Friday, May 15, 2009-Sunday, May 17, 2009. In case of
heavy rain on one or both weekends, a rain date has been set for May
29–31, 2009. Participating households will have the $6 garage sale
permit fee waived on these dates only.
Prudential Starck Realtors, 300 W. Golf Rd., will again promote
the sale and provide garage sale signs (limit 2) to interested
residents 847-255-3900. Garage sale signs will only be allowed on
private properties and parkways. Signs are not allowed on utility
poles, street signs, or city right-of-ways. Participating households
may display their items on their front lawns or driveways from 9:00
am to sunset on the dates of their sale. All items must be removed
from lawns and driveways no later than 8:00 pm on the last day of
