2015 Contract A – Project Update 7/27/15

All work is weather permitting.  Unknown utility conflicts may also cause delays.

Prospect-Dexter

The contractor will begin roadway preparation work on Monday, July 27 on Prospect (between Lee and Dexter) and Dexter (between Prospect and Everett Avenue).  They will remove driveway aprons, excavate the roadway widening and grade the stone base in preparation for new pavement.  This work is expected to take approximately 10 days.

Everett
The contractor will continue transferring individual water service from the old main to the new main on Everett.

They will also complete miscellaneous storm sewer work.

On Wednesday, July 29, the contractor will make final water main connections on Lee Street at Everett Lane and Everett Avenue.  To complete this work, the section of Lee Street between the intersections of Everett Lane and Everett Avenue will be closed to all traffic on Wednesday, July 29 from 7:00am to 5:00pm.  This work will require a water main shut down for residents on Lee Street between Prospect Avenue and Manheim Road.

Jarlath
The start of work on Jarlath has been delayed.  It is anticipated the work will begin on or about August 10.

Grove
The contractor may begin miscellaneous utility work this week.  No schedule has been set at this time.  More information will be available soon.

2015 Capital Improvement Program - Contract C - Construction Update - 07/23/2015

Southwest Place - West Grant to West Villa
Pavement patching and pavement surface paving are scheduled to occur next week.  Sod will be placed after Labor Day

Work on Southwest Place involves new 8 inch water main, various storm sewer improvements, and complete street reconstruction and reprofiling. All curb will be removed and replaced. All driveway aprons will be replaced with concrete. Sidewalk will be replaced as needed. Six inches of asphalt pavement will be paved on Southwest. Landscape restoration will be completed with sod. Pavement striping and street signs will also be replaced. 


Northwest Place - West Grant to Thacker
The sewer subcontractor has completed the new 36" concrete storm sewer main.  They will now begin constructing new storm catch basins in the curb.  Within the next week, sidewalk will be removed and replaced.

Work on Northwest Place involves new 36 inch storm sewer and new 8 inch water main. Miscellaneous sidewalk and curb will be replaced.  No driveway aprons are scheduled for removal. Three inches of pavement will be removed and resurfaced on Northwest.  Landscape restoration will be completed with sod. Pavement striping and street signs will also be replaced.


Forest Avenue - Des Plaines River Road to west dead end
Resurfacing was completed on June 9.

Work on Forest involves pavement resurfacing and removal & replacement of sidewalk ramps at intersections. Three inches of asphalt pavement will be resurfaced. Landscape restoration will be completed with sod. Pavement striping and street signs will also be replaced. 


Des Plaines River Road at Harding Avenue
Work is scheduled to begin in mid to late August.  

Work at this location involves construction of approximately 150 feet of 12 inch water main.  This work will require the closure of the eastbound Rand exit ramp to southbound Lee.  


Northeast Place - East Grant to Thacker
Work on Northeast Place is scheduled to begin the week of July 27.

Work on Northeast Place involves new 36 inch storm sewer. Miscellaneous sidewalk and curb will be replaced. No driveway aprons are scheduled for removal. Storm sewer trenches in pavement will be patched. Northeast Place between Thacker and Grant is not scheduled for pavement resurfacing this year. Landscape restoration will be completed with sod. Pavement striping and street signs will also be replaced.  Start date to be determined.


Oxford Road - Oakton Street to Forest Avenue
The contractor is currently constructing the new 8" water main.  They are scheduled to connect the new water main to the existing main on Friday, July 24.  Once the new water main is flushed out, it can be pressure tested and chlorinated.  Upon passing these tests, new water services to each house will be completed.  In the meantime, the contractor will begin construction on the new 15" concrete storm sewer.

Work on Oxford Road involves new 8 inch water main and new 15 inch concrete storm sewer. All ditches and culverts will be removed and replaced with storm catch basins. Fire hydrants will be added, and their locations will be changed to conform to current building codes. All driveway aprons will be replaced with concrete. The pavement on Oxford will be widened from the existing 18 to 22 feet to a width of 25 feet. Six inches of asphalt pavement will be paved on Oxford. Several diseased ash trees will be cut down on Oxford. Landscape restoration will be completed with sod. Pavement striping and street signs will also be replaced.  Start date to be determined.


Lincoln Avenue - Oxford Road to Wolf Road
Work on Lincoln Avenue includes new 12 inch concrete storm sewer. All ditches and culverts will be removed and replaced with storm catch basins. Old fire hydrants will be replaced. All driveway aprons will be replaced with concrete. The pavement on Lincoln will be widened from the existing 20 feet to a width of 25 feet. Six inches of asphalt pavement will be paved on Lincoln. Landscape restoration will be completed with sod. Pavement striping and street signs will also be replaced.  Start date to be determined.


Market Street and Metropolitan Way - Metro Square
Pavement removal and resurfacing work is currently scheduled to begin on Monday, August 3.  The contractor will remove only approximately half of the Metro Square lot to accommodate business owners and customers.  The second half of the parking area will be completed within a week or two of the first half, weather permitting. 

Work on Market Street and Metropolitan Way involves 2 inch pavement removal and resurfacing.  The Metro Square parking garage will remain accessible during this pavement work. Entrances will be reconfigured to allow for two way traffic. 


Metra Parking Lot between Graceland & Lee, and between Northwest Highway & RR tracks
Pavement removal and resurfacing work is currently scheduled to begin on Monday, August 3. 

Work on this parking lot involves 2 inch pavement removal and resurfacing.  This parking lot will be closed during this pavement work.

Rusty Drive - David to Pratt - completed 5/18/15
Birch Street - Everett to Howard - completed 5/18/15
Douglas Avenue - Jarvis to Howard - completed 5/19/15
Jeanette Street - Forest to Van Buren - completed 6/10/15
Oakwood Avenue - Jeanette to Second - start date to be determined
Webford Avenue - Graceland to Arlington - completed 7/7/15
Walnut Avenue - Marshall to Willson - completed 7/8/15
Little Path Road - Westmere to Bradley - completed 7/7/15
Michael Road - Wilkins to west cul de sac - completed 6/10/15
Everett Avenue - Lee to Mannheim - start date to be determined
Spruce Avenue - Prospect to Howard - start date to be determined
