2015 Capital Improvement Program - Contract C - Construction Update - 09/01/2015

Street Resurfacing

The contractor will begin 3" pavement removal on the following streets starting Tuesday, September 1.  If they are unable to complete Oakwood on Tuesday, they will return on Thursday, September 3.  Existing pavement on Northwest Place will be removed on Thursday as well.  Pavement replacement is tentatively scheduled for Friday, September 4 and Tuesday, September 8. 

Spruce Avenue - Prospect to Howard - start date 9/1/15
Everett Avenue - Lee to Mannheim - start date 9/1/15
Oakwood Avenue - Jeanette to Second - start date 9/1/15 or 9/3/15
Northwest Place - Thacker to W Grant - start date 9/3/15
Northeast Place - East Grant to East Villa - start date to be determined

Resurface Notice - Spruce, Everett, Oakwood


Des Plaines River Road at Harding Avenue
The contractor has successfully augered and jacked the new 12" water main under Des Plaines River Road.  They are working on connecting this new water main to the existing main.  Pressure testing and chlorination testing are tentatively scheduled for completion by the end of this week.  Once both tests pass, we will open the valves and fully connect the new water main.  Pavement restoration and lane closure removal will follow soon after.  


Northwest Place - West Grant to Thacker
The contractor patched the pavement where utility trenches were dug.  Work on Northwest Place this week involves milling three inches of existing pavement.  Soon after, the contractor will pave the first layer of asphalt pavement.  The next step is to adjust any manholes in the pavement to the proper elevation.  Once completed, the final layer of asphalt pavement can be paved.  Landscape restoration will be completed with sod once road work is completed.


Northeast Place - East Grant to Thacker
Damaged curb and sidewalk have been removed and will be replaced this week.  Once the concrete work has been completed, the contractor will patch the utility trenches with asphalt. 


Oxford Road - Oakton Street to Forest Avenue
Work this week on Oxford Road involves constructing the new 15" storm sewer.  Sewer construction is expected to last approximately another two weeks.

Upon completion of the new sewer. all driveway aprons will be replaced with concrete. The pavement on Oxford will be widened from the existing 18 to 22 feet to a width of 25 feet. Six inches of asphalt pavement will be paved on Oxford. Landscape restoration will be completed with sod. Pavement striping and street signs will also be replaced. 


Lincoln Avenue - Oxford Road to Wolf Road
The contractor has started work on the new storm sewer laterals crossing Lincoln Avenue.  Once the storm sewer on Oxford is completed, the contractor will resume work on the new storm sewer on Lincoln.

Work on Lincoln Avenue includes new 12 inch concrete storm sewer. All ditches will be filled, and culverts will be removed and replaced with storm catch basins. Old fire hydrants will be replaced. All driveway aprons will be replaced with concrete. The pavement on Lincoln will be widened from the existing 20 feet to a width of 25 feet. Six inches of asphalt pavement will be paved on Lincoln. Landscape restoration will be completed with sod. Pavement striping and street signs will also be replaced. 


Market Street and Metropolitan Way - Metro Square
Pavement removal and resurfacing work was completed on Wednesday, August 12.

Southwest Place - West Grant to West Villa
The final layer of pavement surface will be paved in the near future.  Sod will be placed after Labor Day


Forest Avenue - Des Plaines River Road to west dead end
Resurfacing was completed on June 9.

Work on Forest involves pavement resurfacing and removal & replacement of sidewalk ramps at intersections. Three inches of asphalt pavement will be resurfaced. Landscape restoration will be completed with sod. Pavement striping and street signs will also be replaced.

Birch Street - Everett to Howard - completed 5/18/15
Douglas Avenue - Jarvis to Howard - completed 5/19/15
Jeanette Street - Forest to Van Buren - completed 6/10/15
Oakwood Avenue - Jeanette to Second - start date 9/1/15
Webford Avenue - Graceland to Arlington - completed 7/7/15
Walnut Avenue - Marshall to Willson - completed 7/8/15
Little Path Road - Westmere to Bradley - completed 7/7/15
Michael Road - Wilkins to west cul de sac - completed 6/10/15
Everett Avenue - Lee to Mannheim - start date 9/1/15
Spruce Avenue - Prospect to Howard - start date 9/1/15

2015 Contract A – Project Update 8/31/15

All work is weather permitting.  Unknown utility conflicts may also cause delays.

Prospect-Dexter-Everett


The contractor will begin the concrete apron work on Monday, August 31 at the following locations:


North side of Prospect Lane

East side of Dexter Lane
South side of Everett Lane

Access to these driveways will be closed starting at 7:00 A.M. on MONDAY, AUGUST 31.

This restriction should last a maximum of fourteen (14) days. The City will take samples to determine the strength of the concrete.  As soon as the concrete has cured to allow traffic, the contractor will remove barricades to allow access.

Jarlath


The contractor will continue installation of the storm sewer this week.

On Tuesday, September 1, the contractor will also replace the fire hydrants.  A water main shut down will be required for this work.  The main will be shut down between the hours of 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM.

Grove

The next phase of work will include removal and replacement of the asphalt pavement.  This work has not been scheduled yet.

Fargo

The contractor will continue storm sewer installation work.

On Monday, August 31, the contractor will begin pavement patching from River Road to the west.

Des Plaines River Road Reconstruction Weekly Update August 29, 2015 Update

The road closure scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2015 has been canceled due to weather.  River Road will be open to vehicle traffic.  Residents affected by the road closure will be notified once this work and the road closure is re-scheduled.
